Julius Roberts is a first-generation farmer and restaurant trained chef, on a mission to live a self-sufficient life down on his family smallholding in Dorset, whilst also cultivating the finest ingredients, and cooking and eating the very best food.

The origin of Julius’s life-long love affair with food lies in the kitchens of his childhood, for him a magical place of bubbling cauldrons and endlessly rewarding rituals and delights. After graduating from art college, he ended up in a professional London kitchen. But the environment proved too intense, and he yearned to be back in the countryside, growing and foraging for his own food, and living and eating with the seasons in mind.
These days Julius cooks every day with produce he has grown on his smallholding, or foraged in the surrounding woods, bringing his huge wealth of knowledge and ideas to even the simplest of ingredients. Julius’s food sings with flavour and fun; it is also accessible, family fare.
Still on a journey with his farm, where he also rears pigs, chickens, sheep and goats, Julius learns as he goes - and always with the greatest amount of respect for the countryside and the people who live in it.
It is this combination of honest tales from farming life together with delicious home cooked recipes, that has so captivated his legion of Instagram and TikTok followers. Julius embraces the pace of country life, is palpably inspired by what he does - and determined to inspire and delight others, whatever stage of their cooking (or growing) journey.
Julius’ new television series, A Taste of the Country, is currently airing on Channel 5. Julius's long-awaited debut book, THE FARM TABLE (Ebury Press), will be published on the 28th September.
